Emergenging Technologies in Education

Gina, I agree there is a problem when there is only one technology "expert".  It would be wonderful if the schools could find a time and resources to hold training for the educators in the areas they would use the technology most often, such as setting up the equipment or troubleshooting minor difficulties.  The college I attended for my undergraduate did that and it seemed to help at times.  We also had an individual in the learning resource center who had taught computer courses who was a great help when needed.
I too like your background.  Reminds me of my high school days in the 70's.  Those were fun days although at times very confusing for young people.

Welcome!

This blog is for my class project. I have two others, one I keep for work and a personal blog. (Truth: have not written for either since starting school!) I like writing, and blogging is kind of fun. It does take time though to do well. Do you all like blogging? Do you have blogs other than this one?

Keeping up with new technologies is an interesting question. I think one of the best ways it to watch kids (not being one myself). They are always the early implementers. Other instructors have also given us information about professional publications and conferences-- a couple seem like good resources. I am fortunate to have an IS department at work and our engineers are always getting stuff to Beta test and sending it out to us. And, I find myself reading things I never have before, like Wired magazine. The bigger question for me is how to figure out how to best use these in the classroom, especially in schools where there is one technology "expert" and not much chance to collaborate.

Come to think of it, that would have been an interesting focus for this course.
